Ahangama and Midigama

Located on a fast developing stretch of land, Ahangama and Midigama is quickly emerging as the latest tourist hotspot in the South coast. With some of the best surfing spots in the South Coast, Ahangama is known for the consistency of its waves. As an area that is just emerging into the mainstream it is still relatively idyllic with a mix of surfer friendly accommodation. The area also has the occasional villa though, so if you want to live in style in a Surfer’s Paradise in Sri Lanka then Ahangama and Midigama might be for you.

The shoreline at Ahangama and Midigama is beautiful. But more for seeing than experiencing. It is rocky and has cliffs. The first surf spot as you head South is Kabalana beach. In Midigama, a tiny village built inside a quiet little cove, you can also find some reef breaks that will give you some super rides. Other surf points like Ram’s Right are more for advanced surfers, while plantations is a reef break that is also mostly a right that is suitable for intermediate to advanced surfers.

Hotel Kabalana and W15 Weligama are very nice places to stay in Ahangama, with a tailored service offering that will give you the best in comfort and style. A little further South, you can also find the luxurious Weligama Bay Marriot Resort and Spa and Cape Weligama.
